Age: 7+

Group Dynamics: This group maintains a set goal of qualifying for and competing in Junior Olympic competition. Swimmers are focused on mastering skills in all four competitive strokes to build endurance, eliminate drag, increase propulsion through correct stroke technique. We also hone racing skills such as starts, turns, streamlines, and underwater pullouts.

Swimmers in the group are encouraged to attend meets regularly with a goal of achieving Junior Olympic qualifying times. Swimmers in this group focus on developing a strong kick, refining workout etiquette, building body awareness in the water, developing core strength, and increasing knowledge in the sport of swimming. Swimmers are encouraged to compete in meets throughout the season and swim 100's of their favorite stroke, 200 free, and 200 IM.

Entrance Requirements: Attend a minimum of 3 practices weekly with regularity ● All 4 strokes legal (25 y fly, 50 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 300 freestyle with legal turns and streamlining off each wall) ● Competed in a minimum of one swim meet ● Ability to do 10 x 50 kicks on 1:30 interval without fins, 20 x 50 free on 1:20 and 16x50 IM order on 1:30.

Training Frequency: 1.5 hours 4x per week

Yards: 2,500-3,500

Equipment: RPC swim cap, pair of goggles, swim fins, kickboard, pull buoy, and a water bottle

Move-Up Requirements: ● Attend a minimum of 4 practices a week ● Must achieve Arizona State Championship time standards (A times) in a minimum of one event ● Ability to do four double-leg kicks off each wall with legal turns (butterfly, backstroke, freestyle) ● Legal breaststroke kick and underwater pull down ● Legal Turns ● Streamline off every wall ● Swim a 500 in practice breathing every third stroke ● Ability to handle intervals in kick and swim sets as determined by the current practice times in Age group A with minimal adaptation ● Competed regularly in sanctioned meets ● Willingness to attend Saturday morning practice.
